Sound and Lighting Equipment Keep Libby’s Community Theater Open

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: February 19, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $30,000

The Maki Theater serves as an important community hub in Libby, hosting approximately 180 events each year including theater productions, concerts, board meetings, and educational programs. But the theater’s aging sound and lighting systems are always malfunctioning, putting the future of the only free venue for community gatherings and the performing arts at risk. One Libby Public Schools staff member wanted to preserve this vital community space, so he reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Libby Public Schools purchase updated lighting controllers, speakers, amplifiers, wireless microphones, and stage lights. The new equipment will restore the theater’s full capabilities, ensuring residents maintain access to important cultural experiences and community connections.
