New Wrestling Gear Expands Access for Studen Athletes in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista School District NO. C-8
  • Date Funded: September 29, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,430

The wrestling programs at Monte Vista Middle School and High School are growing, but a shortage of properly fitted uniforms have kept some students—particularly girls—from fully participating. In just three years, the high school girls’ wrestling program has grown from five wrestlers to 17, while middle school athletes have had to share high school singlets, sometimes receiving them just before their first competition. Recognizing this gap, a Monte Vista resident reached out to LOR with a solution: purchase new uniforms and gear to remove financial barriers and ensure every wrestler can compete safely and confidently throughout the season. LOR’s funding will help Monte Vista Schools purchase 25 high school girls’ wrestling gear packages, 50 middle school boys’ singlets, and 49 middle school girls’ singlets—giving athletes properly fitted, gender-specific gear while strengthening team identity and supporting continued program growth.
