Reading Boxes Boost Teen Literacy in Questa

  • Local Champion: Friends of the Questa Public Library
  • Date Funded: February 4, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Teens in Questa have limited access to programs and resources designed specifically for their age group, contributing to lower reading engagement and fewer positive after-school options.

When library staff recognized this gap in youth programming, they reached out to LOR with a solution to make the library more welcoming and relevant for middle and high school students.

LOR’s funding will help the Questa Public Library purchase 20 curated teen reading boxes filled with age-appropriate books and activities to invite teens into the library in meaningful ways. These reading boxes will provide Questa youth with engaging, screen-free literacy resources in a safe community space, supporting academic success and mental wellness while strengthening the library’s role as a central hub for youth development.
