Oral History Project Safeguards Questa’s Cultural Legacy

  • Local Champion: Localogy
  • Date Funded: September 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,983

Questa’s cultural heritage is at risk, as elders who carry generations of knowledge—about acequias, agriculture, music, and family traditions—grow older and pass on. To preserve this wisdom, a community archivist and other local leaders proposed a plan to document their stories and approached LOR for support. With LOR’s funding, Localogy will launch the “Voices of the Northern Rio Grande” project, equipping the local library with recording tools, hosting monthly story-sharing events, and conducting in-depth interviews with elders. These recordings will be archived digitally and shared through podcasts, CDs, and the library—ensuring Questa’s history and identity endure for generations to come.
