New Play Equipment Makes Lander’s Toy Library a Safe Place For Families to Connect

  • Local Champion: Covenant Presbyterian Church
  • Date Funded: June 6, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $15,000

The Toy Library at Lander’s Covenant Presbyterian Church continues to be a place of connection for parents of small children, and as it has grown, the outdoor space has also become a busy focal point for families during the summer. The problem is that the equipment in the outdoor play area is not always appropriate for the children who make use of the area. Many of the children who come to the Toy Library are under the age of five, but the equipment is designed for older kids and it’s not accessible to differently abled children. Further, much of it is in poor condition: For example, a climbing rope is fraying and some wooden elements are splintering severely. The solution staff came up with is making a few simple upgrades to the outdoor area. They just needed a little help to get things started and reached out to LOR for help. LOR’s funding will help pay for new ground cover and play equipment and support some marketing needs to ensure the entire community is aware of this asset where families can safely connect and play.
