When it comes to getting things done, Buffalo has more moxie than you might expect of a town its size.

To wit: When the House Draw Fire of 2024 burned more than 174,000 acres of cattle and sheep ranchland, locals raised $81,000 in relief in a single night at the Ashes to Table dinner. So it’s no surprise that after working with Buffalo for just a couple of months, LOR has supported nearly 30 projects dreamed up and led by locals. These projects have ranged from providing additional services for youth—like dyslexia screenings and a scoreboard for baseball—to meeting the needs of sometimes overlooked groups like seniors and those with mobility challenges. Just a few months into LOR’s roughly five-year tenure working with Buffalo, things are off to a tremendous start thanks in no small part to passionate—and compassionate—locals excited to invest in this incredible community at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains. Fourth generation Johnson County resident Jenn Burden, LOR community officer, is as eager as her fellow residents to turn locals’ good ideas into realities that make Buffalo better for everyone.
