New Recess Equipment Creates More Ways for Monte Vista Students to Play and Connect

Monte Vista Middle School students lack access to safe, age-appropriate outdoor equipment for unstructured recess—a gap students, families, and school staff have identified as a barrier to activity, connection, and well-being. After the student council requested swings, Gaga Ball pits, and other outdoor play options, the school principal reached out to LOR with an idea: add new recess equipment that gives students more ways to be active, build relationships, and enjoy time outdoors. LOR’s funding will help the Monte Vista School District purchase a six-person swing set, two Gaga Ball pits, two flooring kits, and wood-chip infill—creating a lasting outdoor space that supports belonging and well-being for current and future students.
