Neurodiversity Training Connects Cortez Families, Educators, and Providers

  • Local Champion: Sand Canyon Therapy Community Access and Support Initiative
  • Date Funded: March 23, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Cortez families, educators, and behavioral health providers increasingly support neurodivergent children, but specialized training and local peer connection opportunities are extremely limited. After years of seeing families and providers navigate complex needs in isolation, one mental health counselor had an idea. LOR’s funding helped the Sand Canyon Therapy Community Access and Support Initiative bring a nationally recognized expert to Cortez for a three-day neurodiversity training series. The training equipped parents, educators, and providers with practical strategies for supporting neurodivergent children across home, school, and clinical settings, while also creating connections that will help participants navigate neurodiversity together.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation.
