Medical Supplies Enhance Cortez’s Athletic Training Program

  • Local Champion: Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1
  • Date Funded: February 21, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

Montezuma-Cortez High School has a burgeoning athletic training program, teaching a growing number of students the theory of sports medicine and training them for future careers in the field. But while the state of Colorado helps fund many career and technical education programs, it does not reimburse schools for items that are “consumable” like athletic tape. Without access to key medical supplies, students haven’t been able to practice important skills, a problem the high school’s athletic trainer set to solve when he reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Montezuma-Cortez High School purchase athletic tape, pre-wrap, and other medical supplies for hands-on education and practice, teaching students practical skills while preparing them for future careers.
