Making Music: Questa Schools Help Students Learn Mariachi Traditions

Students in Questa are interested in traditional music and dance, but many haven’t had an opportunity to learn mariachi and folklorico traditions. When a music teacher at Questa Independent School District realized this problem, she set about solving it and approached the LOR Foundation with a potential solution: hiring performers to come to Questa and train students. With LOR’s help, the school district was able to bring in five performers to lead workshops once a week for five weeks—giving students an opportunity to learn their traditions and practice their skills.
