Libby’s Library Helps Kids Keep Reading Over the Summer

  • Local Champion: Lincoln County Public Libraries Foundation
  • Date Funded: April 24, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $2,400

When school lets out for summer, Libby children have limited access to reading materials and, in some cases, don’t have the ability to get to the public library. To address this problem, staff from the Libby Branch of the Lincoln County Library reached out to the LOR Foundation with an idea to help nearly 300 households: Send one book per month directly to the homes of Libby children. The library is working with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library literacy Program to source books, which LOR will help them purchase and ship to each family in June, July, and August—an effort that will help young students continue to develop their reading skills.
