Legal Services Help Launch a Libby Community Garden

  • Local Champion: A Libby local
  • Date Funded: October 22, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $3,899

Libby lost its community garden when Asa Wood Elementary was sold, leaving residents without a shared space to grow fresh produce, connect with neighbors, and teach children about food and agriculture. A group of local residents wanted to restore what the community had lost, so they came up with an idea: establish a new community garden. LOR’s funding helped the group hire legal services to create a community garden nonprofit, launch a website, and purchase promotional materials to build community support. The new nonprofit will enable residents to create a sustainable community garden that provides fresh produce for families while offering hands-on agricultural education.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Kootenai Country Montana.
