Flexible Classrooms Build Collaborative Learning in Libby

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: July 21, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $20,000

Fifth-grade students at Libby Elementary have spent years learning in outdated desks, limiting collaborative learning and preventing the student-to-student interaction that supports teamwork and skill development. Since fifth grade remains the only grade in the building without a flexible classroom environment, one school leader set out to solve the problem. In need of help, he reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help Libby Elementary purchase 42 tables and 120 chairs to create reconfigurable classrooms that enable collaborative instruction, small group work, and student-directed learning. The investment builds on a proven model: A prior LOR-funded pilot produced results strong enough that Libby Public Schools committed $18,000 of its own funds to expand flexible learning environments across the entire sixth grade.
