Equipment for a Questa Astronomy Program Helps Fill a Learning Gap

Since astronomy is not part of Questa schools‘ curriculum, few students—both current and former—have had an opportunity to learn about the components of the night sky. In response to the gap, school staff coordinated with BLM staff who have experience putting together astronomy curriculum. They came up with a plan for an astronomy program that would be open to both students and the community at large—they just needed a little help securing the equipment to run it. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of telescopes, lenses, cameras and other equipment that will allow for four or five viewing nights over the next year.
