Cooking Workshops Empower Questa Youth

  • Local Champion: Rosies Smokehouse
  • Date Funded: June 11, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $8,000

Many Questa youth face food insecurity and lack adult supervision to help them prepare meals for themselves and their siblings, a problem one local restaurant owner wanted to solve. Her idea? Workshops that teach essential cooking skills to local youth. In need of help getting the project up and running, she reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help Rosie’s Smokehouse purchase food and supplies to host monthly cooking workshops and weekly classes at the local after-school program. The hands-on workshops will teach up to 50 kids how to safely prepare healthy, inexpensive meals, giving them the knowledge and confidence they need to feed themselves and their families.
