Carpentry Tools Prepare Questa Students for Professional Successful

  • Local Champion: Questa Independent School District
  • Date Funded: December 5, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $6,650

Rural school districts across the Mountain West have always realized the value of career and technical education, but in recent years, there’s been a renewed emphasis on trade skills in the Questa School District. One example of this district priority is Questa’s high school carpentry classes, which provide hands-on learning opportunities through projects that give back to the community while developing the skills students need to be workforce-ready upon graduation. The only problem? The program lacked the proper tools to provide students with the most up-to-date training. So, the instructor contacted LOR for help purchasing the missing equipment.

With LOR’s funding, the district secured a miter saw, a planer, a table saw, and all the accessories needed to maximize students’ carpentry education and expertise.
