Budding Entrepreneurs in Cortez Launch a Student-Led Curriculum

  • Local Champion: Fundamental Needs Inc
  • Date Funded: May 31, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

The next generation of entrepreneurs in Cortez are eager to launch new enterprises, but they don’t have access to a program that offers the education and experience they need. With this in mind, the director of local nonprofit Fundamental Needs hoped to engage students in an out-of-school social entrepreneurship program designed by local students. Under this model, students will conduct research, connect with college professors, and meet with professionals to build a curriculum that will launch during the 2023-’24 school year and welcome students from any of the local high schools. Funding from the LOR Foundation will help compensate the students who are stepping up to lead the program–the first step in striking out on their own.
