An Awareness Campaign Helps More Cortez Families Access Free Preschool

  • Local Champion: Children's Kiva Montessori School Early Childhood Program
  • Date Funded: January 12, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,000

With limited spots, many young Cortez families worry about the availability of child care and preschool. Yet enrollment at Children’s Kiva Montessori has declined over the last two years, in part because many families don’t know that the preschool is currently enrolling. Amid the growing community need, volunteer board members with Children’s Kiva Montessori reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Children’s Kiva create and implement a targeted awareness plan, including an updated website, local radio advertising, and supplies for community outreach. The campaign will connect more Cortez families to Children’s Kiva’s free preschool spots, strengthening opportunity and early education in Cortez.
