A New Calendar Helps Cortez Parents Prepare Their Kids for PreK

  • Local Champion: Piñon Project
  • Date Funded: July 24, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $5,565

As Colorado’s universal prekindergarten program launches, many parents are looking for ways to ensure their children are prepared for school. Problem is, not all parents know where to look for activities that can help ready their children. Staff at the Piñon Project‘s Montelores Early Childhood Council came up with an idea for a school readiness calendar with daily activities that include science, math, art and play, literacy skills, fine motor, gross motor, and social/emotional activities. The calendar will also serve as a reminder for families to log into Baby Bee Ready for additional school readiness resources. LOR’s support will be used to help cover the cost of printing more than 1200 calendars for local families.
