A Conductors Podium Elevates Music Programs at Montezuma-Cortez Middle School

  • Local Champion: Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1
  • Date Funded: September 17, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $1,950

The performing arts programs at Montezuma-Cortez Middle School have seen remarkable growth, with over half the student population now participating in band or choir. However, this success has outpaced the school’s equipment, leaving teachers and students without the proper tools. To address this need, one staff member reached out to LOR with a plan to enhance the school’s music resources. LOR’s funding will help Montezuma-Cortez Middle School purchase a new conductor’s podium and music stand to replace the school’s current 17-year-old podium, which was handmade by a parent and is difficult to move. The new podium will help the band and choir directors better work with students while also serving as an asset for community performances and events.
