Free Arts Workshops Expand Creative Opportunities in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: A Monte Vista Local
  • Date Funded: September 9, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Monte Vista residents have long had limited access to diverse arts experiences that encourage creativity, learning, and community connection. The Church Project’s free Sunday Programs are helping to fill that gap, but limited supplies and instructor support have made it difficult to expand offerings to meet growing interest. Recognizing this challenge, staff at The Church Project proposed a solution: purchase art supplies and provide stipends for improv instructors, live models, and workshop facilitators to bring a broader range of free creative experiences to residents of all ages. LOR’s funding helped cover supplies and instructor stipends for 24 improv sessions, 48 live-model sessions, and 48 Sunday workshops—expanding the variety of classes available, bringing in a more diverse group of artists and facilitators, and ensuring cost is never a barrier to local participation.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Optimystics Citizens Action Network.
