Tutors Help Taos Students Build Important Literacy Skills

  • Local Champion: Reading Quest
  • Date Funded: June 24, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $25,450

Many students at Taos’ Arroyos del Norte Elementary struggle with reading, harming their long-term learning. Hoping to help every student at Arroyos del Norte succeed, the school’s principal reached out to LOR with an idea: implement a proven literacy intervention program at the school. LOR’s funding will help Reading Quest hire three tutors and purchase curriculum materials to provide one-on-one tutoring for students at Arroyos del Norte. Reading Quest’s program, which has helped students achieve an average of 1.5 years of reading growth in a single academic year, will ensure that all Taos students have the opportunity to build confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning.
