Resources Restart Adult Education Program in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista School District NO. C-8
  • Date Funded: September 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $14,415

Due to funding cuts, Monte Vista’s only free adult education program was at risk of elimination, leaving local youth and adults without vital access to GED and high school diploma services. Recognizing this barrier to career and education growth, a Byron Syring DELTA Center teacher reached out to LOR for help reviving the program.

With LOR’s support, the center will purchase a computer for official GED testing and offer evening classes during the 2025–2026 school year, supported by stipends for teachers and staff. Serving approximately 20 students, this is the only free adult education program in the San Luis Valley, ensuring that Monte Vista residents can pursue these critical credentials without financial barriers as the center works toward long-term sustainability.
