New Technology Enhances an Engaging Safe Space for Taos Teens

  • Local Champion: Friends of Taos Public Library
  • Date Funded: July 22, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $6,400

During the development of the Taos Destination Stewardship plan, a focus group of local teenagers expressed that young people in Taos needed a safe place to hang out. So, a Friends of Taos Public Library member contacted LOR with an idea: create a dedicated teens-only space in the library where young people can have fun experimenting with new technologies and developing valuable technical literacy.

LOR’s support will fund four Meta Quest VR headsets and subscriptions that will allow users to access immersive social, gaming, and fitness experiences. It will also cover the cost of promoting the new library’s new Teen Tech space via print and radio ads.
