Gym Equipment and Training Programs Improve Outcomes for Taos Student Athletes

  • Local Champion: Taos High School
  • Date Funded: December 10, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $16,300

A recent survey of Taos High School coaching staff and student athletes revealed student athletes needed better equipment (most of the weight room equipment is almost 25 years old) and a robust training program to help them avoid injury and maintain healthy lifestyles. The school district committed $10,000 to solving this problem, and the additional funding from LOR was used to purchase equipment and implement a new training and conditioning program. The program includes individualized plans that track improvements and reference materials about safe ways to train, proper equipment use, and other healthy tips and strategies.
