A Mammography Suite Expands Breast Cancer Screening for 1,300 Weiser Residents

Weiser residents who need a mammogram currently face a drive of an hour or more to reach the nearest permanent screening facility. And the mobile unit that visits Weiser twice a month can only serve 15% of women who need an annual screening. Recognizing this gap, staff with the Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation reached out to LOR with a solution: create a permanent mammography suite at Weiser Memorial Hospital. LOR’s funding will help Weiser Memorial Hospital purchase cabinetry, a clinician workstation, a computer and printer, and create a patient privacy area. Together with funding the hospital has already secured for 3D mammography equipment, these investments will give at least 1,300 residents access to annual breast cancer screenings close to home, at a hospital they trust.
