Music Equipment Expands Opportunities for Monte Vista Elementary Students

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista School District NO. C-8
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $27,199

More Monte Vista elementary students than ever want to participate in music education, band, and choir, but there wasn’t enough equipment to support all interested students. After recognizing that limited equipment was preventing full participation—and that existing choir risers posed safety concerns—the music teacher at Bill Metz Elementary reached out to LOR with a plan to expand the program.

LOR’s funding will support the purchase of choral risers, keyboards, beginner band instruments, and electric guitars so every student can participate in music instruction and performances.

This new equipment will expand equitable access to music education regardless of household income, enable hands-on learning through a 1:1 instrument-to-student ratio, and strengthen the pipeline into Monte Vista’s middle and high school band programs by introducing instruments at the elementary level.
