Local Wildlife Museum Increases Visitation in Lander

  • Local Champion: Water for Wildlife
  • Date Funded: May 14, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $3,020

Lander’s Water for Wildlife Foundation has been involved in water conservation and education since 1975. But its work—as well as its free, newly renovated Water for Wildlife Discovery Museum—have largely flown under the radar of locals and visitors. One local wanted to change that. With help from LOR, she was able to design and implement a robust multi-level marketing plan to get the word out about the museum’s mission and its long, successful history in Lander. The plan included hiring a photographer and coordinating with other groups on a local “map of interest” highlighting the community’s creative businesses and museums. The solution is a win-win for the town, whose summer economy is driven mainly by tourism.
