Inmates Pursue Higher Education Through a New Lander Class

  • Local Champion: Lander resident
  • Date Funded: September 1, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $400

As part of its goal to reduce recidivism through cognitive and behavioral intervention, Honor Farm—a minimum custody facility near Lander—offers inmates ongoing education. Lander resident and Central Wyoming College adjunct professor Hattie Penny wanted to offer inmates a class that could help them pursue higher education. In order to do so, though, inmates needed expensive textbooks. LOR’s funding will be used to purchase books for up to 15 inmates taking the University Studies class for college credit that is transferable to all Wyoming colleges and universities.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Central Wyoming College Foundation
