Expanded Support Helps Taos Students Navigate Postsecondary Education

  • Local Champion: Bridges Project for Education
  • Date Funded: August 31, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $29,500

Since 1997, Bridges Project for Education has helped more than 3,300 Taos students pursue postsecondary education—but many, particularly those who are the first in their families to attend college or a career training program, face academic, financial, and personal challenges after enrollment that can interrupt or even end their educational journeys. Recognizing this gap, a staff member reached out to LOR with an idea: hire a Postsecondary Success and Alumni Engagement Coordinator to provide ongoing outreach, resource navigation, and individualized support to enrolled students while recruiting, training, and matching alumni mentors with current students through the BRIDGEBuilders program. LOR funding will help Bridges Project for Education begin building this ongoing support structure and mentor network, including mentor training and resources, events, and communications materials. Together, these investments will help more Taos students navigate the path from enrollment to completion, connect them with alumni who share their backgrounds and experiences, and build a sustainable, community-driven network that supports educational success and community engagement for generations to come.
