Educational Signage Reveals Lander’s Hidden Food Sustainability Projects

  • Local Champion: Central Wyoming College Foundation
  • Date Funded: June 11, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $8,076

In Lander, many residents don’t realize the strides being taken by local organizations to create reliable, sustainable food systems—partly because from the outside, the hydroponic freight farm looks like an ordinary shipping container and the greenhouse appears standard. When the executive director of the CWC Foundation realized that these world-class agricultural teaching tools were “black boxes” to the community, she reached out to LOR for support to help close the gap. An educational kiosk with cutaway diagrams and interior imagery will show how vertical hydroponics yield an acre of food in a trailer, explain the three-season production cycle, demonstrate the solar grid installation, and encourage residents to learn more and create their own food systems. LOR’s funding will help design and install the kiosk at CWC Lander, helping the community see and understand the innovative food sustainability work happening right in their backyard.
