Creating a Forever Home for Lander Strays

  • Local Champion: Wild Roots Sanctuary
  • Date Funded: September 12, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $7,118

Lander has a large population of stray dogs and cats roaming its streets—and some are too aggressive for adoption, meaning they are often put down because there’s no safe place for them to live. To address that problem, a Lander resident is creating Wild Roots Sanctuary, which will be a dedicated space that houses animals who have behavioral issues. The founder reached out to LOR for help. LOR’s funding will support the creation of a website offering educational resources for community members who encounter aggressive strays. And as they promote the website, they hope residents will connect with them to help aggressive strays find their forever home.
