Care Closet Provides Essentials for Sargent Students

Many Monte Vista students lack consistent access to necessities, such as hygiene products, appropriate clothing, and essential school supplies, which can affect their comfort, attendance, and ability to concentrate. After noticing a growing number of students without these essentials—and seeing staff step in to cover the gap with their own funds—a school counselor at Sargent High School reached out to LOR with an idea for a more sustainable solution.

LOR’s funding will support the creation of a Care Closet in an underutilized storage room, stocked with hygiene kits, clothing, school supplies, snacks, and gift cards that students can access discreetly when needed. This stigma-free space will help ensure students have what they need to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn—removing everyday barriers that can impact their long-term success and well-being.
