Bilingual Resource Directory Improves Service Access Across Taos County

  • Local Champion: 100% Taos County Initiative
  • Date Funded: February 25, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,598

Without a centralized guide, many Taos County residents—particularly Spanish-speaking families and individuals navigating multiple services—have faced confusion, duplication of effort, and barriers to timely access to food, behavioral health, benefits, transportation, and other essential services.

Recognizing this longstanding gap—identified repeatedly by community members and nonprofit partners—an advisory board member for 100% Taos proposed a solution: create expanded bilingual resource directories and conduct countywide education to help residents and service providers more effectively navigate local support systems.

LOR’s funding helped 100% Taos contract a graphic designer to develop print-ready files, a printing company to produce 1,000 copies in multiple formats, and an outreach coordinator to lead distribution and training efforts. The directories will be printed in English and Spanish, including large-print versions to improve accessibility, and distributed to 30–50 partner agencies and public sites across Taos County. The outreach coordinator will also conduct at least 10 educational presentations for service providers, navigators, healthcare partners, schools, and community members. An online version will be continuously updated to reflect real-time changes, with the print guide directing users to the website for current information.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico.
