Additional Equipment Helps Monte Vista’s Decorated Marching Band Grow

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Schools
  • Date Funded: September 12, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $12,500

Monte Vista’s high school marching band has 20 state titles to its name—include last year’s! That success comes, in part, from a robust marching band program that begins in middle school, where roughly 40 percent of each grade participate in the band. In total, more than 135 students across middle and high school take part in the marching band program. The only problem with having so much participation? Not enough uniforms and equipment to go around. So Monte Vista’s band director reached out to LOR with a solution: purchase more equipment and uniforms so the successful program can continue to engage even more Monte Vista youth. LOR’s funding will be used to procure the necessary equipment and uniforms.
