A Van Helps Get Libby’s Homebound Residents Where They Need to Go

Recent Lincoln County Transportation data revealed that 10 percent of Libby’s population either relies on public transportation or walking to get to the things they need in town. Unfortunately public transportation services are very limited, which leads to Lincoln County Transportation Services (LCTS) receiving an average of more than 280 calls for rides per month within Libby from homebound residents. Many of those calls currently go unserviced. To address this problem, LCTS has tried to purchase several vans to transport these residents in recent years, but have run into production delays and other roadblocks. When a van became available at a local dealership, staff at LCTS reached out to LOR for help. LOR’s funding will help support the purchase of the van, which can be used to take homebound passengers to medical visits, shopping, and social gatherings in Libby.
