A Trailer Keeps Dollars Flowing to Cortez Youth Activities

  • Local Champion: Kiwanis Club of Mesa Verde
  • Date Funded: August 6, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,986

For years, volunteers with the Kiwanis Club of Mesa Verde have worked to raise money for local youth while bringing free community events to Cortez families. But without a reliable way to transport equipment, event setup and breakdown have become a recurring burden on the club’s volunteers, with canopies, tables, and chairs scattered across members’ personal vehicles. After one club member raised these challenges at a weekly meeting, another club volunteer came up with a solution. LOR’s funding helped the Kiwanis Club of Mesa Verde purchase an enclosed trailer, giving volunteers a single, organized space to store and transport all event equipment. The trailer will serve as a long-term asset for the club, allowing more fundraised dollars to flow directly to youth activities in Montezuma and Dolores counties.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation.
