A Covered Walkway Protects Libby Students from Year-Round Weather Hazards

  • Local Champion: Libby Elementary School Parent Council
  • Date Funded: August 14, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $30,000

Every day students and staff at Libby Elementary School must cross an exposed crosswalk between two sections of the building, where rain, mud, snow, and ice have caused slips and falls. One member of the Libby Elementary School Parent Council reached out to LOR with a solution for this recurring hazard. LOR’s funding will help the Libby Elementary School Parent Council hire a local contractor to install a permanent covered walkway. Paired with the money the council itself has raised, the walkway will protect students and staff from year-round weather, allowing them to devote their full attention to teaching and learning.
