A Classroom Aids Gun Safety Education in Libby

  • Local Champion: City of Libby
  • Date Funded: October 24, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $25,559

The City of Libby owns a shooting range just outside of town, but without an indoor space and the proper training tools, local law enforcement can’t offer comprehensive firearm safety training to officers and community members. One staff member with the Libby Police Department had the idea to build a classroom to enhance the range’s educational resources. In need of help, he reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help the Libby Police Department build a classroom and furnish the range with new training equipment, including steel targets and other practice systems. The new additions will allow officers to offer a variety of safety courses, from hunter education to responsible storage practices, ensuring Libby residents can learn proper firearm handling and responsible gun ownership.
