The Treeline Project Offers a More Accessible Wilderness Experience in Lander

  • Local Champion: Treeline Project
  • Date Funded: March 2, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $20,020

While Lander has several organizations and businesses that focus on bringing people into the Wind River Mountains, many of the available opportunities focus on bringing those who live out of state into the wilderness and are prohibitively expensive for locals. To address this issue, a Lander resident helped launch the Treeline Project, an organization that is focused on providing affordable wilderness access to folks who call Lander home.  The nonprofit needed some help as they scaled and began planning expeditions, so they reached out to the LOR Foundation. With LOR’s help, Treeline was able to purchase pack llamas, meals, and other gear that will help make their trips accessible to folks with financial constraints and limited outdoor experience.
