Rolling Equipment Bags Ease Volunteer Burden for Growing Softball Program

  • Local Champion: Lander Girls Fastpitch Softball
  • Date Funded: March 11, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $4,920

In Lander, girls’ softball has grown so popular that 20 volunteer coaches now manage multiple teams across three to five age divisions. But these coaches face overwhelming logistical challenges keeping track of players plus all the balls, bats, helmets, and equipment needed for practices and games. One new coach had an idea to make hauling equipment more manageable. She proposed outfitting each coach with a compact, rolling, wheeled bag that can stay in vehicle trunks for easy transport to fields. These durable bags create an efficient storage system that reduces the burden on volunteers who are already juggling team management—helping retain coaches and accommodate growing participation in the sport. LOR’s funding helped purchase 20 coach’s bags, ensuring volunteer coaches can focus on teaching the game rather than struggling with gear logistics.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
