A “Giving Closet” Provides Hygiene Supplies—and Dignity—to Weiser Youth

  • Local Champion: Washington County
  • Date Funded: March 17, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,100

Many Weiser children and teens lack access to basic necessities like hygiene products and clothing, leading to teasing and social stigma that affects their confidence and well-being. After seeing youth struggle without essentials like deodorant, feminine products, and clean clothes, one county probation officer reached out to LOR with an idea to restore and expand a depleted community resource. LOR’s funding will help Washington County purchase hygiene products, clothing basics in various sizes, and storage equipment to restock and expand the county’s “Giving Closet.” This free resource—named in memory of a dedicated county employee—will serve all Weiser youth through partnerships with schools, allowing young people to access essential items with dignity.
