T-Shirts Build Community Among Pre-Kindergarteners in Cortez

  • Local Champion: Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1
  • Date Funded: July 25, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $1,854

Cortez has had limited daycare options for young children, and the newly instituted Universal Pre-Kindergarten in Colorado will mean a big transition—introducing school to kids who might have never been a part of a larger community. Teachers and staff want to make all kids feel welcome, so they planned to design and purchase t-shirts and hoodies to create excitement in the new learning environment. With help from LOR, the district purchased the shirts for all students and staff so that on day one everyone would feel like they’re part of the same team.
