Roofs Restore Safe, Affordable Recreation at Buffalo’s Municipal Pool

Buffalo’s outdoor municipal pool draws thousands of residents and visitors each summer, but deteriorating, leaking roofs on the bathhouses and other pool buildings threaten the safety and long-term usability of this community gathering place. Recognizing this problem, a local Buffalo Charitable Foundation board member reached out to LOR with a solution: replace the roofs on six structures—the men’s and women’s bathhouses, the concession stand, two shade benches, and the pump house. LOR’s funding will help the city of Buffalo purchase metal roofs, hardware, ridge caps, eaves, and gables for all six structures, with remaining costs shared by the city of Buffalo and the Buffalo Charitable Foundation. The completed roofs will extend the life of the buildings, protecting the amenities families enjoy and preserving the pool as an affordable recreation space for Buffalo residents and visitors alike.
