A Free Community Magazine Connects Cortez Residents Through Creative Expression

Cortez residents have no publication where they can share creative work and connect with their neighbors’ talents, ideas, and perspectives. The founder of Squirrel Congress came up with a solution: launch “The Vulture,” a free community magazine featuring writing, photography, recipes, and other contributions from Cortez residents of all ages. LOR’s funding will help Squirrel Congress purchase printing and production equipment—including a printer, field scanner, binding equipment, and a stack cutter—along with a website subscription to make the magazine available online at no cost. Published three times a year, “The Vulture” will distribute at least 500 copies per edition through local galleries, breweries, and other community locations, giving Cortez residents a consistent outlet for creative expression.
