Safe Kennels Protect Weiser’s Volunteers and Shelter Dogs

  • Local Champion: City of Weiser
  • Date Funded: September 18, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $12,254

Weiser’s dog pound relies on 30-year-old kennels made from repurposed water department grates that have become rusted and dangerous, causing injuries to both animals and the volunteers who care for them. The city’s code enforcement officer worried about the serious safety risks the deteriorating enclosures posed, so she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the city of Weiser purchase and install modern kennels, creating a safer environment for both the animals and the dedicated volunteers helping them find new homes.
