Professional Art Teacher Launches Rigorous Arts Program for Lander Homeschoolers

  • Local Champion: A Lander local
  • Date Funded: June 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $13,607

In Lander, homeschool families lack access to comprehensive arts education, creating a significant gap in their children’s learning experience. After a decade of teaching art in local public schools and earning recognition as Lander Middle School’s 2023 Teacher of the Year, one certified art instructor had an idea to fill this void. With Wyoming’s new Education Savings Account legislation allowing state funding for private education providers, she wanted to launch rigorous art classes for homeschoolers of all ages. This comprehensive program would not only provide homeschool families with free, high-quality arts education but also would help high school students build college portfolios. LOR’s funding helped purchase professional-quality art supplies across multiple mediums—from drawing and painting to printmaking, ceramics, and fiber arts—along with classroom equipment to support up to 100 students per term.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
