New Air Filtration System Safely Reopens Lander’s Community Indoor Range

  • Local Champion: Lander Junior Rifle Club Foundation
  • Date Funded: June 26, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $20,000

In Lander, the community’s indoor gun range has been closed for two years due to dangerous conditions: Built in the 1970s with poor airflow design, the facility’s ventilation system actually blew lead particles toward shooters rather than filtering them out safely. The closure has meant that groups like 4-H clubs, hunter safety instructors, and federal firearm training programs don’t have a place to practice. When a board member for the Lander Valley Sportsmen Association recognized that a new HVAC system was the final piece needed to reopen this well-used community asset, he reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help install an air unit with HEPA filters that reverses airflow to pull contaminants away from users and out of the building. This critical upgrade allows the range to safely reopen at no cost to community groups, restoring access for the 238 member families and dozens of organizations that depend on this facility for training, education, and recreational shooting activities.
