Montezuma County Aims to Improve Staff Wellness With a Step Challenge

  • Local Champion: Montezuma County
  • Date Funded: April 18, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $6,600

Many Montezuma County employees spend the bulk of their days at desks working on computers, and it’s often difficult to find hours in a busy week for exercise. That kind of routine can have physical impacts including increased stress as well as back, arm, and neck fatigue. To address these problems, the county’s employee wellness committee envisioned a step challenge for Montezuma County employees and their families. The challenge would include providing interested employees with fitness bands and then tracking the number of steps each person takes over the course of August 2022 with the goal of helping county staff establish regular exercise habits. LOR’s funding will help procure the 200 fitness trackers needed to help county employees establish regular exercise habits.
