A Downtown Kitchen Brings Scratch-Made Meals to More Cortez Students

Battle Rock Charter School makes scratch-made meals for over 130 students at two local charter schools, but limited kitchen capacity prevents the school from expanding to serve more Cortez children. After hearing from families about the need for summer meals and from other charter schools wanting to join the program, staff with Battle Rock reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Battle Rock rent a downtown restaurant space to expand meal service to at least three other charter schools and create a summer food program open to all Cortez children, making it easier for more kids and families to access nutritious meals year-round.
